Looking At The Brighter Side Of Life

It's been a while since my last blog post and you are probably wondering what is wrong or what is happening? First and foremost, I am doing okay both physically and emotionally ;) I usually would rather not mention or write about my personal life issues in order not to mix it with work etc. I guess sometimes it can't be helped but drop a little hint here and there since keeping it to one's self is not the right thing to do and perhaps reaching out to loved ones and friends is one of the best thing to do in times like this.

The past few weeks I decided to stop what I have been doing and decided to re-think and re-plan (also known as procrastinate a little bit more). I am a very emotional person (I am a drama queen, I was told recently haha) but emotions is what moves me, this is where I get both positive and negative energies from and thus too embarrassed at times to admit it that I really am going through emotional stress always fearing what others would say and their judgement so whenever I am having some dull moments I would choose to retreat to my little shell and not worry anyone about it. I asked my self: Is  this going to help me at all? my answer is simple: It won't.

I know it's never good to keep things locked up inside because one day I know you are just going to explode when the time comes that you are unable to keep all those emotions locked away but at the same time there is that fear of being seen vulnerable in front of others.

My solutions? I honestly have tried everything to break my routine.. From waking up very early then start working out early and just change everything even my way of thinking and looking at things, but you know that they said "things doesn't change overnight", I agree. As a very impulsive person I would do things without even thinking of the consequences for my actions and at times end up regretting my decisions, but sometimes you need to take risks to see which things would would work  out for you instead of sticking to your routine and trying to make or convincing your self to be happy even though deep inside you really are not.

I have also been suffering from lower back problems for weeks and it also made me grumpier than usual since I can't do anything about it and pain killers gives little help and thus added more uneasiness to my situation. At first they thought it was related to digestive problem since the pain is also affecting my lower abdomen but they can't find anything that relates the two together. I spent several times back and forth to the hospital getting examined and trying to figure out what is wrong / happening to me but unfortunately they are unable to give me a proper explanation and finally told me to make an appointment with a Traumatologist since it could be related to my physical activities. I have been working out non-stop and was probably burning more calories than what I have been eating if that makes sense and living an unhealthy lifestyle (sometimes skipping meals!).

I stopped working out for a week and see if there would be any improvement and honestly I feel so much better though eating healthily (and properly) helped a lot too. I am almost but not yet certain about resolving my current personal issue but whatever decision I come up with or whichever direction I choose at the end of the day I know there's always light at the end of the tunnel and I honestly can't wait to see that special light and get back on track. Please bear with me a little bit more ;) hugs and have a good night!

Kjaer Weis Cream Blushes & Highlighter First Impression

I am loving cream based & organic beauty products at the moment and slowly transitioning to wearing mostly "green beauty products" and let me tell you; it's not really as easy as it sound but finding great quality products that won't ruin your skin is a challenge. I have wasted so much money buying skincare products that will help my sensitive / acne prone skin and have pretty much tried most brands out there but my skin will never be perfect. I am thrilled upon discovering green beauty products that did not break me out from brands like RMS Beauty, Ilia, Tata Harper and now I would like to add Kjaer Weis to that list.

Kjaer Weis is a green cosmetic line created by Danish makeup artist Kirsten Kjaer Weis, a brand that aims to provide beauty without compromising your health and the environment. It's officially almost a week since I have only been using Kjaer Weis Cream Blushes & Highlighter and I must say I am smitten and time to give an honest opinion ;)

Embrace is a pale / nude pink without any shimmer which adds a nice healthy glow to my face. Seeing the swatches and pictures from their website I was not sure if it was going to work with my medium skintone and I thought it would be a bit too light for me but not. I have been working out a lot by the beach and got a bit tanned but it still work for me, it actually looks like a lighter version of Blossoming on me. It's very natural and have been my perfect go-to blush when I don't feel like wearing base, the texture is creamy and very easy to blend. I like to use my finger to dab a few dots  (a little goes a long way) on the apple of my cheeks and blend it upward using a stippling brush.

Blossoming is describe as "a rosy tone / mauve" according to Net-A-Porter.  I love how it looks on my bare face and it truly does gives a natural "I just finished working out look" (but I was told I look like I got sunburned in a good way, ha!). It is very hydrating comparing it to my RMS Lip2Cheek I prefer the Kjaer Weis Cream Blushes because they are a bit more creamier and when applied it looks very natural and I guess not sticky?

Radiance is a shimmery champagne / warm pearl highlighter which glides on like silk on my skin, the texture of this is slightly rough not quite like the undetectable RMS Beauty Living Luminizer but there is something more about this highlighter that makes me reach for it more often than my Living Luminizer.

I have read many good reviews about this highlighter it's apparently a bestseller and a product to try if you adore cream highlighters, I do. I have been in love with the RMS Beauty Living Luminizer and I could not rave more about it, it gives me that "lit from within look" and I could say the same about Radiance.

I'm wearing Blossoming in this picture, not sure if you could really see it I am a little too tanned right now and was wearing only a bit for a natural look.

In terms of packaging, these beauties are quite on the heavy side. Don't get the wrong idea but I like the mirrored metal design but I prefer to be able to carry my beauty products on my purse for re-touching but they these are just on the heavy side to carry them all at once. It's looks really chic but I honestly would prefer a much lighter purse-friendly packaging. Have I mentioned that they are eco-friendly too? you can just purchase a refill when you finish the product which costs a bit less than buying a new compact.

In terms of prices? well here comes the part I was dreading to mention, they are on the more expensive side but since you are paying for the quality of a product that does not contain harmful chemicals and are environmental friendly I do think it's worth saving up for.

The shelf life is 30 months before being opened and about 12 months after opening. A little too short considering the amount of product you get since they are very pigmented and you do not need too much. For someone who does not wear makeup everyday it could be a challenge to finish it up before it expires. I can see my self using them everyday especially in the summer when I do not want to wear a lot of makeup.

My verdict? highly recommended if you love organic and cream products. Have you tried any of the products mentioned above? Which shade shall I try next? I'd like to hear your opinions in the comments below! Thanks

Weekend Picnic by the Cave

A week ago, I got the chance to celebrate Easter Sunday by one of the most stunning hidden place just an hour and 15 minutes drive from Marbella. "Cueva del Gato" in Benaoján or The Cat's Cave is a breath taking hidden paradise where two rivers join as one comes out of a cave having travelled through the mountain and ending in a beautiful waterfall. A great place for a picnic or a stroll after visiting Ronda and just relax.

The weather wasn't particularly great that day but the surrounding was just too beautiful to worry about the misbehaving weather.

We set up a little spot where we had a little snack, took some pictures then I went up but chickened out before reaching the entrance since the stairs going up was quite slippery and not to mention quite steep to climb further with my slippers (yes, very appropriate indeed).

I wore this lovely embroidered eyelet dress from Joie (currently 25% off for full-price & sales items from Shopbop until 7th of April with the code: INTHEFAM) which I have been eyeing since seeing it on their Instagram page. I think it would be a great dress for picnics, tea party or for the summer holidays.

The place was too dreamy and after many years of living in Andalusia, I must admit I have never been to this place and regret not looking it up before.

The cave is quite huge and I don't know if you can see there's a person in the middle right (where I managed to climb with my flip-flops and stopped). I was going to go further more but after seeing a man in front of me with appropriate climbing boots slipped twice (with two small children with him), no thanks.

We drove down till the rural Hotel Cueva del Gato and parked close to it and walked a little bit to get to the entrance of the cave, surely not a difficult place to access so if you are planning to visit Andalusia on your next trip make sure to include Cueva del Gato on your list and pass by this hidden gem.

Springtime Favourites

There are so many great beauty products that I have recently tried and ended up liking them and therefore it's time to brag about share some details about them. Attention: It's quite long :)

From left to bottom right:
  • Bodyism's Clean and Lean Ultimate Clean Shake - a food supplement according to Net-A-Porter "high in both soluble and insoluble fibre which helps boosts your immune system and flush out toxins." It's ingredients includes Slippery Elm which helps soothes inflammation, Rice Bran supports your digestive health and helps you achieve a flatter stomach and Soy Lecithin which aids your body to metabolise (french vanilla and raw cocoa flavoured). Every morning after eating my breakfast I'd like to add this to my pre workout smoothie or at the end of my workout with much heavier ingredients as a post workout smoothie. Vegan friendly.
  • ila Energy Spray For an Aura of Confidence - as the name says it's an energising body spray which will help you clear your thoughts by awakening and and strengthening your bio-energy field (sounds really cool). It reminds me of a Spa, it has that relaxing smell which I find really refreshing especially in the morning. I got it from a Madrid based Organic Products online shop Laconicum, I stumbled upon this site upon looking for local shops who sells organic beauty / health products. I am very happy with most of my purchase and shipping is fast and not too expensive.
  • ILIA Lip Exfoliator Balmy Nights - Since I started venturing into the world of organic beauty products I knew that ILIA is a must try brand since I read many good reviews about their products especially about their Tinted Lip Conditioner (review coming soon ;) One of the few products I am trying from brand is their Lip Exfoliator after being labelled as a "cult beauty product". I have made my own lip scrubs in the past but of course most of them didn't really work on my flaky lips so hopefully this one would (fingers crossed) especially now that the weather's starting to get warmer.
  • RMS Beauty Lip Shine in Sublime - I am obsessed with all of RMS's product and have been using them religiously but I am fan of their lip shine. I bought all shades except for the shade Royal since I am not a great fan of violets but anyway at first sight I was a bit hesitant to try this shade since it looks almost like violet than a fuchsia pink and quite barbie pink in the pot but it's really not. It's the sweetest light pink lip product I have tried which did not made me look like a human barbie, it's very buildable and is a very wearable type of pink that gives a little pop of colour (nothing too fancy).

  • RMS Beauty Lip & Skin Balm in Simply Vanilla - another cult product, I have using this balm on my lips as an organic version replacement for my Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair Balm (which work wonders on my lips and live up to it's name). It's very moisturising but I honestly should say like most of their lip products; it does not lasts very long (max. 2-4hours) but it still keeps my lips hydrated and smells of vanilla so I do not mind to reapply.
  • Little Ondine Nail Polish in Fusion & Copper Spark - I have been wanting to try this brand for sometime but I couldn't find one locally but ended up ordering them from Eleven.se. My favourite go-to colours are nude, gold and red. They are made with natural ingredients (water, purified resin and colourants) free from harmful chemicals! They can be easily peeled off, odour free, quick drying and the colours are all very pretty.  Isn't that tempting enough?! I am definitely sold :) I want more, I definitely can't wait to try the shade Cuddle.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body - Charlotte calls it her "Gisele and summer in a jar" is a shimmering paraben-free body lotion with formula that firms and illuminates gives your legs a radiant glow à la Victoria's Secret kind of glowing legs.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Champagne Diamonds - A best seller; it's an eye colour enhancing shadow stick meant for blue eyes but I like to break the rules and I love a shimmery champagne eyeshadow to achieve a naturally radiant makeup look.

  • Porter Magazine April Edition - OMG! How cute is this Jessica Chastain Porter Magazine Cover with a baby kangaroo?! So adorable, that I knew it had to be included in one of my current Springtime favourites! I just received it on the mail and can't wait to read it. That's it for  my current Springtime Favourites hope you like my post. Have you tried any of these products before? I'd like to hear from you, let me know in the comments below!

Spring Just Got A Little Sweeter

The official long weekend holiday here in Spain starts tomorrow and wishing I could just chill out and read a book. I am currently reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern but like always it's taking me ages to finish a book, I think it has been at least a month since the night I put it down. It's a good book and I honestly couldn't put it down at night when I first started reading it but like always some things pop out and I forgot the book (even though it's sitting right on my bedside dresser).

Today I originally planned another beauty product shoot but ended up cancelling it due to misbehaving weather issues. Anyway to change the mood I got a sweet bouquet of Lisianthus and Iris for the next shoot.

The next book I will read is; about Yeonmi Park a brave North Korean girl and her story about escaping North Korea to her journey of getting her freedom back (to live a normal life). I was just actually curios about how Pyongyang looks like after watching a documentary about North Korea when I came across her article.

That's all for now,
enjoy the holidays and I'll be back again with a beauty product review soon!

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk & Pink Venus

A lip liner has never been a part of my makeup routine before since I didn't like anything that will make my pout more plumper than it already is (though I sometimes use Too Faced Lip Liner in Perfect Nude to line just my natural lip line to define my lips)  and it also tends to dry out my lips which can enhance the flakes on my dry lips so I like to keep it natural and just prime my lips with a normal balm. Lately I have been watching a lot of makeup tutorials and in some of the videos I kept hearing good things  about the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk and how most of my favourite Youtube bloggers raved about it.. but I wasn't just about to jump and join the trend, yet.

After reading a bit more about the product and seeing tempting pretty swatches.. and thinking about it for weeks.. I am finally sold and yes, I did jumped and ordered the two bestselling shades Pillow Talk & Pink Venus.

Left to right Pink Venus is a warm nude shade (though it appears to be more salmon pink on my lips)  Pillow Talk is a muted pinky nude (which gives my lips that "my lips but much better shade").

Both shades are very pretty and looks very natural on my lips (oops no lip swatches yet! sorry). I can see why there's a huge hype going on about these beauties, they glide so creamy and beautifully that they ended up becoming my current favourite "no shine, natural lip" liner / lipstick filling my whole lips with it. I was a bit worried that it might emphasise the dry flakes on my lips but fortunately it did not and I did not find it drying at all, it even survived even after eating.

I ordered mine online through Net-A-Porter since they are not available locally, each costs 22€ (plus  shipping fees) quite expensive for a lipliner if i must say but for the price I paid it did lived up to my expectations. It's long-wearing, did not stain my braces, doesn't emphasise my dry flakes (not drying at all) and the shades are both beautiful and looks very natural which would probably suit most skin tones.

My verdict? I am in love! I am already thinking about stocking up As expected from Charlotte Tilbury's makeup line the shades are very pretty and universal, I have a couple of products from her line that I truly do adore (see it here). I would definitely repurchase and would recommend it for those of your who loves natural looking lip liners that won't dry your lips, it also comes in few more shades so there's plenty to choose from for everyone.

Have you tried the Charlotte Tilbury makeup line? Do you have any favourites that you would like to recommend? I'd love to hear them in the comments below! Thanks

Instant Glow Spring 2016 Makeup Collection by Clarins

Spring is all about cheery pastels and loads of pretty light colours (and mostly tons of shades of pink!). It's so refreshing to welcome Spring after the long months of cold and chilly weather. Naturally radiant makeup look is currently on trend and sometimes we (I personally do!) just want that refreshing look like "your skin but a better" so right now I'm opting for products that either in emollient / cream form or organic products where I do not need to use moisturisers etc. Today I will be showing you some things that I picked up from Clarin's Spring 2016 Makeup Collection.

I'm gonna start with the Multi-Blush in the colour 05 Rose; a rosy toned cream-to-powder blush which gives a rosy / natural looking-flush and can be applied and blended easily with your fingers.

From left to right Multi-blush 05 Rose, Natural Lip Perfector 07 Toffee Pink Shimmer and Natural Lip Perfector 08 Plum Shimmer

This year Clarins added two more shades to their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector which is a creamy lip balm / gloss. I am wearing the shade 07 Toffee Pink Shimmer is a pinky-brown with a subtle hint of shimmer and gives me that "my lips but better" kind of looking lips. It looks very natural and I would say it's a Spring appropriate shade, it's creamy like a lipbalm and glossy like a lipgloss but not sticky / tacky but has a light vanilla scent.

Plum? I am not sure I am a fan of red lips or bold lip colour, my lips are very pigmented and darker shades just appears even more darker and I don't like how it looks on me. The next shade I am wearing is 08 Plum Shimmer which I would consider more of an Autumn / Winter shade but with a just a little bit of it can add a light "berry" hint on your lips which reminds me of naturally flushed lips. It can be easily worn in the daytime and just re-apply a little bit more to intensify the colour and achieve a bolder and fuller lips.

My verdict? I love them all! I never tried cream blushes before but learning and seeing how natural it looks on my skin, I would say I am quite impressed. The lip perfectors also earned my 5 stars since they something I would wear when on the go and something that I will moisturise my lips without that the stickiness/tackiness of a lipgloss and it's vainilla scent is too sweet to say no to it. I am curious and would love to try their Natural Glow 5-Colour Eye Shadow Palette  I am quite tempted to try it and hopefully I would be able to review it too. What about you, have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments below!
